Pastor's Heart
I turn 36 years old on October 3rd. I do not know if I am over
the hill yet, but I can definitely see the top of that hill,
barely because my eyes are getting weaker. As I grow another
year older I have noticed the older I get the faster my hair
thins, waist grows, and bones ache. Isn't growing up fun, fun,
fun. Where has the time gone, why does it seem that the older
I get the faster time flies. I know that it was just yesterday
that Kevin was entering kindergarten and his mother and I wept
as he went in to his class, and now he is driving himself to
college. I look at my other children and want to say stop growing,
stay our babies forever, but I know that they need to grow up
so they can enjoy the joys of fatherhood like I am. Still I
am a little selfish about it. The scripture that has been hitting
my heart this month has been Jesus said, "I have come to give
you life and give it abundant ly." I realize more and more
what is important in this life and I grow more thankful of my
God for not only the life gave me but through His son Jesus
my adundant life. Won't you stop and count the blessings in your
life this month, take the time to be a little selfish and just
enjoy the life that God has given you. Don't let the hustle and
bustle of life make you miss the blessings, rather embrace those
blessings. I remember seeing a bumper sticker that read, "Have
you hugged your child today?" As I read that I remember thinking
if I want my children to hug my grandchildren I had better teach
them now by hugging them today. Take the time this month to hug
the ones that matter in your life and live the abundant life
Jesus talked about and promised.
May God bless you and yours,
Rev. William G. Sewell
